Questions about money and relationships with single-moms?

I’ve been dating a single-mom for about 18 months and we got engaged a few months ago – both of us are in our twenties and she has two kids from a prior relationship.

For the past 10 of those months I’ve been helping her out with bills on an (almost) weekly basis because she doesn’t earn very much and needs to pay for extra things like daycare, gas, insurance and food for the kids and her parents (who haven’t been able to work since an accident earlier this year).

I send $100-120 almost each weekend which I like to think of as doing the “right” thing – who else is going to help her stay afloat?.

What I would like to know is, does this sound like something guys dating single moms would normally do (ie. is this the right thing to be doing?) or am I being overly generous and setting myself up for a bigger fall if the relationship doesn’t work out?
I forgot to include that the father of her kids is completely out of the picture and doesn’t pay child support.
I’ll also add that she didn’t directly ask me for any of this money. At the start she would sometimes tell me how hard it was paying for everything, so I suggested I’d help out. Now and then she’ll ask if I’m able to help out and I do, but it doesn’t really go further than that.
